Web design has continually progressed based on client demands and technological solutions to meet them. In the mid-90s it was novel to have your own business website. It was static in that the images were still, the navigation was fixed but, it was in color and you could establish a modern presence that anyone in the world could see. Better than a brochure for cost and exposure.

By 1999 there was software to speed up the design work and there were various solutions to make the site more interactive. Over the years I have used Flash, Java Script, PHP code and others to make a site more engaging and dynamic for the user.

The backbone of traditional websites is HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and JavaScript is now part of Browsers adding much potential functionality. Many sites today use WordPress which has PHP code calling information out of a database which contains the site content. The look and feel of a WordPress site in contained in the Theme which is a number of page pieces and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) code. The real power of this approach lies in the many Plugins and Widgets available that are already programmed for functionality.

So I have divided Web Design into Traditional Sites which include HTML and Flash sites, and WordPress Sites as both are used today. Which approach is best for your business to take, will depend on what you want to accomplish. Our experienced website team will help you make the best choice for your needs.
